When I think about easy woodworking plans, the first thing that comes to mind is easy to read and follow to make it easy for a beginner woodworker. Some people might think that easy woodworking plans are plans of easy woodworking projects, like a cutting board, or simple bookshelves, but either way this article will try to shed some light on the subject.

Woodworking plans should be easy to read with simple to understand instructions with illustrated diagrams that take you step by step through your woodworking project. The best woodworking plans will have full size patterns for each piece of the project, and a materials list. You should also get a cut list, to optimize your material. It really helps when you don’t have to spend time figuring out how many boards you will need and how to get the most out of your lumber.

Easy Woodworking Plans or Projects?

If your goal is to find wood projects that as a beginner to woodworking you can do with ease, then make sure you get comprehensive woodworking plans. If you are good with your hands and know how to use power and hand tools, woodworking isn’t that hard. If you start out with a set of plans that will guide you from start to finish with all the information, blueprints, and patterns, most projects will be easy woodworking projects. Don’t get me wrong, I am not wanting you to think that easy woodworking plans will make you a great woodworker. What good plans will do is give you a leg up, and the more you do the better you will become.

Easy woodworking plans for the beginner woodworker is not always easy to find though. Most of the free woodworking plans will give you a nice diagram with the dimensions, and that’s it. For the advanced woodworker that might be fine, he or she can do their own material and cut list, and they know where to start to make their patterns, which tools to use and so on. You know what, I happen to be a pro that given the choice, “I would rather have easy woodworking plans with everything done”. Pull them out, go shopping, and start building, easy!

Easy woodworking plans are available at book stores, there are many woodworking books that I would recommend you get, one of them is The Complete Book of Woodworking: Detailed Plans for More Than 40 Fabulous Projects , this book has very detailed plans. If you have trouble finding time to work on your projects and would like to do projects that you can complete in a weekend or two then this book might be for you: The Weekend Woodworker’s Project Collection: 40 Projects for the Time-Challenged Craftsman. Each book has 40 woodworking projects that you could do. Another place to look for easy woodworking plans is in woodworking magazines, each month most will feature a project or two.

My favorite place to get anything is the Internet, including easy woodworking plans.  I have found woodworking plans for free and sites where I have to purchase plans, some good and some bad.
